Examples of companies in the Mid West and eastern states of the USA, who have
benefited from the IMSM treatment, abound. One is Koford Engineering, based in Lisle,
a suburb of Chicago. Koford is the leading producer of high performance slot car
(Scalextric in the UK) equipment. Last year, Koford products were used to win 11 out of
12 wing car events at the US Nat's. The company also manufactures and supplies
brushless DC motors and electronic products used in the aerospace and medical sectors.

Helped by IMSM, they received ISO 9000:2000 certification in February 2000. And

"We find that many of our customers, particularly in the medical and IT fields, now
demand ISO 9000:2000 as prerequisite when tendering for business", he said. "We chose

IMSM lead assessor, who undertook the assignment, said: "By keeping things

Another satisfied IMSM customer is CSM Fastener Prodcuts, in Bensenville, near
Chicago O'Hare airport, manufacturers of specialist fasteners for use in the automotive,
electronic and construction industries. They elected to apply for ISO 9000:2000 following
the introduction of the Fastener Quality Act, which made those companies with an
approved quality standard exempt for many of its requirements.

Since successfully completing the processes, CSM has enjoyed a 30% reduction in goods
returned, a 5% growth in their payroll but which, without ISO 9000:2000, would have been
substantially more, and a remarkable 12% overall growth.
